Similarly to Zepper, Gustav Schreiber was a career NCO in the 7th Company of the Germania Regiment, who took acting command during the late summer and autumn fighting. Schreiber also won the Knight’s Cross on December 2, 1943 and five days later was awarded the Close Combat Clasp in Gold. He wears both for this propaganda photo taken soon after.

Teddy Wisch took command of LAH just before the Kursk offensive. Sepp Dietrich left to begin forming the 1st SS-Panzerkorps in Belgium. Dietrich returned to the east late in 1943, paying a visit to his old division beginning on December 2. During this visit are, from the left, Wisch, LAH Chief of Staff Rudolf Lehmann, Dietrich and Hermann Weiser. The latter was now Dietrich’s adjutant and escort officer.
